The concealer that lasts, and lasts, and lasts … | Estée Lauder Double Wear Waterproof

Hello my Bunnies,

Today I'm going to talk to you about one of Estée Lauder's latest launches that I presented to you in february (here).

The product I'm going to talk about his the new concealer from the Double Wear range.

It is the Double Wear Waterproof All Day Extreme Wear Concealer* to be exact.

During the press conference we've been told that this concealer was waterproof (duh), that it had a special kind of pigment that could adapt to the skin colour (there are only 3 shades available), and that it melted into the skin and moved with it for a more natural finish. We'd also been told that it could be used both on dark circles and on blemishes.

I've now been using it for several weeks and I'm ready to talk about it.

The concealer is inside a little squeezy tube which I find very convenient. I'm not the biggest fan of doe foot applicators as you keep putting the applicator back into the tube and it doesn't feel hygienic and I don't like putting my fingers into pots to collect concealer.

The only thing with this kind of squeezy tube is that you have to be careful not to take too much product out. But it's just a matter of getting used to it.

Regarding application, I usually place a little bit of product on the back of my hand and apply it straight with my fingers onto my dark circles and blemishes. I then blend it with my beauty blender. You could also blend it with a brush or your finger but I prefer to use my beauty blender.

The product does indeed melt into the skin beautifully and doesn't seem to oxydise on me.

Usually I start by applying my foundation and I then move on to concealer to get rid off any dark circles and other imperfections that are still there and I then powder everything.

On the pictures below, you can see me wearing nothing, then just foundation and finally, foundation and concealer.

So, how good is it ?

I'd say that this concealer's strongest argument is its longevity. Indeed, my skin tends to eat makeup and I usually end up with barely anything left on my blemishes and dark circles after a few hours.

However, when I use this concealer, I clearly notice that it lasts a lot longer than the other products I use. At the end of the day, I can still see some products on whatever imperfection I chose to hide in the morning.

I also really like the way it melts into the skin. Indeed, it doesn't emphasise the small lines under my eyes or the dryness of the skin around some of my blemishes like a lot of concealers do. It just looks like skin !

The only drawback would be that it doesn't have the most insane coverage. You can build it up a little bit but you'll never manage to get a full coverage with this concealer.

There's something worth nothing too … this concealer has permanently stained my beauty blender.

Until I started using it, I always managed to get my beauty blender completely clean with the simplest soap or with the beauty blender soap for days when it was really dirty but these stains are impossible to get off.

As I wash my beauty blender after every use, I'm absolutely certain that it was this concealer that stained it.

But it can also be seen as a sign of its longevity…

All in all, it is a really good concealer when it comes to result, finish, ease of application as well as longevity ! The only thing that you should be aware of is that it's not the most heavy-duty concealer, but that being said, it still has a really good coverage. Just not the best possible.

What's your favourite concealer ? Any ideas on how I could clean my beauty blender ?

x
Macha
