Hello Everybody =)
I'm back today with another tutorial. I got the idea for this makeup look while I was watching this video of Scarlett Johansson playing "box of lies" with Jimmy Fallon. It made me want to create a makeup look full of glitter.
Unfortunately, my camera doesn't like to take glitter in pictures so by looking at the picture we don't realise how glittery the whole look is. But trust me, it is really glittery !
This isn't one of those 5 product face type of makeup nor is it a 3 minute look. It takes time and a lot of products ! But sometimes I enjoy those as well =)
So, let me tell you how I did it.
I started with the Benefit Porefessional primer as a base.
For foundation I used the Bourjois 1, 2, 3, Perfect with my Real Techniques buffing brush and I hid my blemishes and under eye circles with the Soap&Glory Kick Ass concealer blending it with my RT miracle complexion sponge (I talked about it here.)
To brighten the under eye area further I applied the YSL touche éclat in a V shape and blended with the sponge.
I then directly moved onto the eyes because of fall-outs and decided that I would finish my cheek makeup afterwards.
To start off with I applied the Urban Decay primer potion all over the lid to make sure everything would stay in place.
Then :
1. As a second base I applied MAC paint pot in Let's skate all over the lid with my ring finger because of its beautiful pinky glitter particles.
2. Still with my ring finger I applied gold and silver metallic eyeshadow all over the lid (this one comes from the limited edition Urban Decay Glinda Palette.)
3. As I wanted the whole thing to be even more glittery, I applied a bit of the Chanel Illusion d'ombre in 89 vision still all over the lid with my finger.
*The whole purpose of these three steps was to get a base as glittery as possible with several colours (here pink, gold and silver) and therefore if you don't have these specific ones just use any intensely glittery eyeshadow in the colour(s) of your choice.
4. I put a sticky note on the outer corner of my eye, following the lower lash line and heading towards the end of my brow so as to create a very defined line. I then applied MAC mystery eyeshadow (bottom right in the quad - any mat brown eyeshadow will do) in the outer corner and in the crease and dragged it outwards a little bit following the sticky note with my MAC 217.
The good thing with the sticky notes trick is that it makes you look particularly smart ;) Fortunately the mailman didn't ring the doorbell this time.
Down below you can see the beautifully defined line that the sticky notes help you create.
*if you don't have sticky notes hanging around you can also use something like a business card and hold it against your skin with one hand while you apply the eyeshadow with the other.
To finish off the eyes I applied a thin line of eyeliner with my Lancôme artliner and a few coats of the Benefit They're real mascara (I talked about it here.)
Finally, as I still didn't find it quite bright enough I applied a touch of MAC Nylon eyeshadow (top left in the quad - any shimmery (off-)white will do) in the inner corner.
I then cleaned up any fall-outs with my sponge and a drop of foundation before moving on to the cheeks.
For blusher, I used the Daniel Sandler Watercolour blush (I talked about it here) in the shade Cherub with my Real Techniques stippling brush.
For highlighter, I used the Estée Lauder illuminating powder gelée blush in the shade Tease (sadly a limited edition - sorry !) as it's not too shimmery and applied it with my RT contour brush.
I did a bit of contouring in the hollows of my cheeks using the same brush and the Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder.
Finally I bronzed up the face with my big RT powder brush and the Soap&Glory solar powder.
*As per usual I was completely unable to photograph these steps and the result are very hard to see (stop lying Macha, impossible to see) on pictures but they really do make a difference in real life.
As for finishing touches, I filled in my brows using the Soap&Glory Archery (I talked about it here), and set it all in place with my Soap&Glory one heck of a blot and a "spritz" of the Urban Decay all nighter.
On my lips, I'm wearing the L'oréal Shine Caresse in the shade Romy. These lippies are actually pretty amazing so expect to see a post on them soon.
And here's the finished look :
I hope you like it ! I actually realised that I enjoy sharing my makeup looks with you more and more even if they're not groundbreaking so if you like them too, you might see more of them.
